GORGEOUS ANTIQUE RELIQUARY LOCKET-PENDANT IN 18K YELLOW GOLD,  VITREOUS ENAMEL & NATURAL SEED PEARLS, CIRCA 1890
 
Presented for your consideration, a gorgeous locket pendant or reliquary made in 18K yellow gold (professionally acid-tested) which is masterterfully decorated with an outstanding quality fire enamel depicting a beautiful Catalan young lady in a blue dress wearing an elegant parure of pearl earrings and chocker with three natural tiny white pearls. She also wears a deep red color regional headdress which holds her delicately waved hair. The portrait is fringed by black color enamel and four white V-like desing enamel at its cardinal points. Because of the high quality enameller, we think that the enamel portrait could have been made by the renowned Catalan enamellers Emili and Joaquim Cabot i Rovira who had a workshop in Barcelona.
Inside the locket,  there are two pieces of fabric, black and violet,  over whom should go pictures or relics. Also, each side of the locket comes with its own removable gold frame (see the penultimate picture, please).
 
Nicely engraved on its back side, there is a feminine Catalan name, MERCE (Mercedes in Spanish).

CONDITION: very good general condition, there are some little dings at the back cover, please refer to the antepenultimate picture. The enamel is remarkably intact.
