Presented for your consideration, a rare quill pen made in 14K ROSE GOLD (professionally acid-tested), shaped as a crucifix or as a CROSS, probably custom made by some prelate scribe who obviously had a fervious devotion.
The 14K ROSE GOLD cross has a natural double-rose or european old cut GARNET on its top. The garnet measures 6mm diameter and has a deep red/garnet color. It is set in a bezel-like mounting using four (4) claws (see pictures, please).
The cross is most probably from the begginigs of XIX Century.
The NIB is solidly attached to the base of the cross and it is 14K ROSE GOLD. It is signed "GAVILAN" (which means HAWK) and also has the head of a hawk engravet on it.
Please refer to the pictures, they speak by themselves.
MEASURES: 93 X 60mm
WEIGHT: 12.20gr
ESTIMATED AGE: the cross is from the early XIX Century.
GENERAL CONDITION: very good general condition considering its age. The nib has been tested to write as it should, granting a nice and quite thin letter.
