4467 BEAUTIFUL 18K GOLD & TRANSLUCENT MULTI COLOR ENAMEL  JESUIT SAINT LOUIS GONZAGA MEDAL.

 

  SAINT LOUIS (ALOYSIUS, LUIS OR LUIGI) GONZAGA (1568-1591) was an Italian Jesuit  who was canonized in 1726 by Pope Benedict XIII, he was later declared the latter protector of the students, while Pius XI appointed him in 1926 as patron of Catholic youth. Again, in 1991 John Paul II attributed to him the patronage of AIDS or HIV patients.

 

  This beautiful 18K GOLD and TRANSLUCENT MULTICOLOR ENAMEL medal depicts a study scene of the young Saint Louis Gonzaga, who seems to be reading a book. This medal is hallmarked at the ring at its top part, to the one with attaches the medal itself to its hanging ring. However, these hallmarks are really difficult to read and therefore the medal has also been profesionally acid tested.

MEASURES:  20mm diameter, not including the ring which connect the medal itself with its hanging ring, 27.50mm high, including its hanging ring.

ESTIMATED AGE: circa 1920
