Antique sterling silver brooch or stick pin in the shape of a medieval sword, decorated with an exquisite micromosaic of extremely tiny tiles, representing a white bird, probably a pigeon, over a sky-blue base. At the ends of the guard, there are two beautiful rosetta style micromosaics, a third one is decorating the top of the handle (see pictures, please). The handle itself is decorated with a floral micromosaic depicting two blue/purple/lavender flowers surrounded by several supertiny sky-blue ones (see pics, please). The pioneers of this wonderful art were both Greeks and Romans. Italians began creating micromosaics in the Renaissance and gained great popularity in the mid-19th century, when the center of production was the beautiful and immortal Rome.
The micromosaics were applied to different objects such as pieces of jewelry. Favorite scenes to stage include Roman landscapes, religious and mythological themes, flowers, animals, and exterior scenes or scenes inspired by works of pictorial art. The smaller mosaics come from works from the period between the end of the 18th century and the end of the 19th century. The beauty and quality of the micromosaic depended exclusively on the artistic skill of the craftsman as well as his inspiration and aesthetic criteria. Authentic works of art were created that are currently exhibited in museums or private collections of avid collectors whose fascination is passed down from generation to generation.

Antiguo broche o alfiler en plata de ley en forma de espada medieval, decorado con un exquisito micromosaico de diminutas teselas, que representan un pájaro blanco, probablemente una paloma, sobre una base azul cielo. Los extremos de la guarda presentan dos hermosos micromosaicos estilo roseta y un tercero decora la parte superior del mango (ver fotos, por favor). El mango en sí está decorado con un micromosaico floral que representa dos flores color azul-púrpura o lavanda rodeadas por diminutas florecillas azul cielo (ver fotos).

Los micromosaicos se aplicaron a diversos objetos así como a piezas de joyería. Las escenas preferidas para escenificar fueron paisajes romanos, temas religiosos y mitológicos, flores, animales y escenas extraídas o inspiradas en obras de arte pictóricas. Las piezas de mosaico más pequeñas provienen de obras del período comprendido entre finales del siglo XVIII y finales del XIX. La belleza y calidad del micromosaico dependía exclusivamente de la destreza artística del artesano así como de su inspiración y criterio estético. Se realizaron auténticas obras de arte que actualmente se hallan en museos o en colecciones privadas de ávidos coleccionistas cuya fascinación van transmitiendo de generación en generación.
