Original antique miniature depicting Virgin Mary and Child, religious enamel over porcelain in exquisite wood frame, Bavarian, circa 1890
Presented here, an antique religious miniature in multicolor enamel depicting sitting Virgin Mary & Jesus Child with great attention to detail. The oval shapped miniature is framed in a very beautiful wooden frame exquisitely handcarved in the shape of stylized leaves and crowned with a big flower, an Edelweiss (see pictures, please). One of the flower's petals seems to be shorter than it should, probabli it was recarved after part of it was missing.  The back side of the frame has a hinged "foot" which allows the piece to be in standing position, please refer to the pictures, they speak for themselves :)
